Classic Lemonade

 There's something undeniably refreshing about a cold glass of lemonade on a hot summer day. Classic lemonade, with its perfect balance of tart and sweet, has been a beloved beverage for generations, offering a simple yet satisfying way to quench thirst and evoke a sense of nostalgia.

Origins and Popularity

Lemonade's origins trace back to the Middle Ages, with evidence of lemon-based drinks being enjoyed in various cultures around the world. The modern version we know today gained popularity in Europe and America in the 17th and 18th centuries. Its simplicity and refreshing taste made it a household staple, especially during the warmer months.

 Ingredients

. 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 6 lemons)

. 1 cup granulated sugar

. 5 cups cold water

. Ice cubes

. Lemon slices and fresh mint for garnish (optional)




Instructions

1) In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved to make a simple syrup. Let it cool! 

2) In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice and the simple syrup.

3) Add the remaining 4 cups of cold water and stir well.

4) Add ice cubes to the pitcher.

5) Serve the lemonade in glasses filled with ice, and garnish with lemon slices and mint if desired.
